The Science Behind Nightlife Culture

A study from the University of Roehamptom was released outlining how alcohol can alter our perception of beauty. As mentioned before, we detect facial beauty by the degree of bilateral symmetry. Not by much surprise, alcohol reduces ourability to subtly notice imperfections, thereby increasing the degree of attractiveness we see in a potential mate.

This isn’t really anything new, but I posted because I was always wondering how it relates to Gestalt Psychology. So we see a pretty face, and we break it down in to it’s simplest units and our brain assembles it while filling in missing information. How does this relate to music? Music sounds better to me after a few drinks, but what is my brain filling in? Are we more likely to enjoy a song if the first time we experience it is after a few drinks? Probably.
