A few places I’ve been to recently have been adopting a different way to check coats. Instead of having a designated coat check booth where people line up to check, they’ve hired a couple hostesses to walk around and approach individuals. They ask them if they’d like to check their coat, get a ticket on the spot, and they store it downstairs.
In addition to facilitating in-club traffic, this added convenience and service persuades people to tip or pay more. Additionally, at the end of the night they usually stick around for another drink while waiting for their coats.
