Information of this new patent from Apple just went public. Essentially, it would allow you to purchase tickets to any concert or venue through iTunes. This effectively removes middlemen such as ticketmaster, and will eventually globalize and centralize ticket purchases around the world.

I think it’s safe to assume that after purchase, your concert ticket can easily be scanned by the Camera on the Doorman’s iPhone. Wireless connections will be able to check the validity of the ticket, and it will be linked to your iTunes account. This will prevent any form of counterfeit tickets, as well as allow even more data to be aggregated on concert go-ers.

This could be very easily applied to any nightclub event or one-off. Incentive to purchase your cover in advance could ensure entry before a certain time. Additionally, specific customers could be given “VIP Status” digital cards- so that they can always skip the line and cover at specific venues.

The best part? It gives club owners the tools to collect data on the people going to their clubs.I think that this in combination with iAd will change the industry.
